A breathable cloth face mask for COVID-19 is unlikely to be waterproof, meaning liquid particles from speech, coughs and sneezes can get through the mask. Hence N95 masks and PPE are used in high risk coronavirus situations.
For daily wearing while out and about in the community, cloth masks along with other safety measures can help to reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission. But not all cloth masks are equally effective.
Hold up your cloth mask against the light and make sure light can’t get through. If you can see light through your mask, it’s not going to be effective enough.
